Southern Fried Catfish With 7 Up Recipe
This is an awesome recipe for catfish coating....Try it...

Ingredients
  • Catfish fillets (however many you need)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 7 oz seven up
  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup grits
  • Oil to fry in

Directions
  1. Sprinkle fish with salt and pepper.
  2. Mix cornmeal and grits in separate bowl.
  3. Dip fish in 7 up then roll in cornmeal mixture.
  4. Fry fish in hot oil until brown and crisp.
  5. Drain on paper towel.
  6. Serve with hushpuppies and tartar sauce.

My husband keeps telling me I need to try catfish, so perhaps your coating is the place to start?! The first (and only) time I tasted catfish, it was "bad" (so I was told later), and I can't get past that awful flavor experience. I need to try it again, because I know so many peopel who RAVE about catfish, so I KNOW it can't really be what I tasted years and years ago. I'm willing to give it another try - I've printed out your recipe and I'll go pickup some catfish next time I'm at Costco or Whole Food! I'll let you know how I did!!!
