  • This is to all that reads this. The only reason I poasted this is to get the word out about Stroke Symptoms. May I suggest that while you are on the page just click up there where it says send to friends and send this to as many people as you can. I think that working together we can let everyone know about Stroke Symptoms.

Directions
  1. Blood Clots/Stroke - They Now Have a Fourth Indicator, the Tongue
  2. (Top of Pic) Area of brain deprived of blood
  3. Blood Clot
  4. (By neck) Blood vessel
  5. (Under Second Pic)
  6. Blood unable to pass clot
  7. STROKE: Remember the 1st Three Letters.... S.T.R.
  8. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks.
  9. Seriously..
  10. Please read:
  11. STROKE IDENTIFICATION:
  12. During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) .she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.
  13. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening
  14. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die. they end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.
  15. It only takes a minute to read this...
  16. A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke... totally . He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.
  17. RECOGNIZING A STROKE
  18. Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR . Read
  19. and Learn!
  20. Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.
  21. Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simplequestions:
  22. S * Ask the individual to SMILE.
  23. T * Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)
  24. (i.e. It is sunny out today)
  25. R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.
  26. If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks,
  27. call 999/911 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.
  28. New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue
  29. NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue.. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other , that is also an indication of a stroke.
  30. A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to
  31. 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

Thanks for the post Blueeyes! It's a great recipe for health and survival! Who knows who might save someones life because of this?

This is a great post. I had a small stroke when I was out jogging> I was 30 years old. I still feel the effects from it at times. The best thisg you can do to prevent a stroke (from what I have heard) is to make sure you have breakfast. This is one thing I stick to religiously. Thanks for the post.

My Friend, I cannot thank you enough for posting this invaluable information. I have this irrational fear of having a stroke. It's something you hear all the time. My husband has a heart condition and I constantly watch for any signs. I will hang on to this. Again, thank you for having the courage to post this on a recipe site.

Thank you for this great info, Blue. I had a stroke at the early age of 22. I woke up one morning and I could not move or call out to my hubby in the living room, to say that I need help. But I had a smart hubby who knew that something was wrong, when I didn't get up to cook breakfast so he checked on me and took me to the ER.
