Funny that you would post this recipe. I went out just yesterday to purchase this very pan! It is $14.00 at Michaels. I am waiting for my 40% off coupon!LOL! I did some research and found that the one made by Wilton with the plastic insert is better. If it has the metal insert it breaks according to the reviews I read. I will be getting the one at Michaels made by Wilton. Your recipe came just in time! Thanks!

ACK! I just bought this pan, too! I was at a Michael's on Monday and bought it. Talk about a coincidence! Maybe its a sign that its time to make a checkerboard cake? This is too bizarre for me but oh so amusing! Jett, thanks for the recipe. Apparently the "Muses" demand that Jeffsgirl and I make a cake. Thanks so much!

I didn't find a pan at Micheal's :))..Great story from jeffsgirl and annieamie! This cake looks very good. I have been enjoying your posts with the pictures! Keep up the great work..your on a roll!! I have a line of recipes I want to post but I like to have the pictures to go along with them ..so Im hoping to bake a little tonight and this weekend!

I got my pan from Pampered Chef. I don't remember what I paid but I know it was a lot more than $1.99!!

That looks interesting but I have to admit, seems a little too intricate for my technical skills lol Thanks for sharing.

Holy Crap!!!! Very VERY nice work... I've never seen one of these pans in stores, must look next time!

Really Cool Cake!

OMG!! A winner...Good deal ;)

Jett, what a great set of pictures! I have never tried a checkerboard cake (don't have a pan, so that makes it difficult!), but they always look sooo pretty, and yours is no exception...great post - thanks for "taking the challenge" and running with it!

Jett, you totally outdid yourself with your great photos and post! Good job. The cake looks delicious. Your heart is in all your recipes. Wish I could give you two fives.

Hi , I got a checkboard pan dat came with a recipe which is almost like dis . And Im yet to put it to work . from wat u say here , I may have to come up with different ing. I suppose . thx : )

I have so many cake pans (springform) I'll bet I could make my OWN version of that pan. Cake looks great. Thanks for posting it on the Heirloom group!I've never seen one.

Great recipe tasty.

Love this cake. Make it all the time for parties and bring a dish thing. Try changing the favorites and do pastels its beautiful. The fall time is fun with orange and yellow. So many ways to make this one. I get so many raves for this cake. WARNING red velvet for Christmas is so messing and it will stain your counter if not careful..LOL

Before I got my CB cake pans, I used heavy-duty aluminum foil. It did not work as well but did work. Just fold foil to make it about 4 or more layers thick and wider than the pan height. Then form into a ring folding ends together making it a solid ring. Do this for both circles.

This cake was a challenge for sure!! I'm no expert...The instructions were a little backwards and the cake seemed a little dry.
