Hello....
This recipe sounds delicious!
I love peas....not like one of my
Grandsons...who for the whole of his
16 year life...has RESISTED letting
anything GREEN pass his lips!!! Do you
by chance, know anyone like this????? !!!!!
Anyway....as I was saying, I love peas
and will try this recipe this week-end!
Maybe...and this is a BIG maybe... I can
get this, wonderful in-every-way...in spite of his
refusal to eat anything GREEN, Grandson, to
take 'just one bite' if....I serve it over one
of his favorites, mashed potatoes!!!!
....mjcmcook..Oh Yes.... "5" FORKS ....

This looks Good!
I know someone like mj's grandson....my husband that's why I've resorted to hiding green stuff!! But these are a lot like his dad's peas, he just may eat some.

Hey Yal!! :) now you know I am calling this 'Lana's' because I have given it away
so many times..I have fixed this for over 40
years!! (I prolly should have sent it in to
Green Giant Co. years ago!!:)I don't think Mama
fixed it, but lol, I was always in the kitchen too! I know it was not one of my Grandma's recipes. Now I know also that I and family have
made something very similar in fresh garden veggies, but my children and Grans always like it
best with Lesueur peas(go figure, right??)
Thanks and I hope yal try it..Many many blessings,
love, family, good food and friends!:)
Meant to tell yah..you can do this with carrots,
or asparagus too..(you knew anyway:)

Grew up in Mankato - passed the Jolly Green guy a thousand times in my day! There is NO BETTER pea for creamed peas thatn LeSueur Green Giant Young (or Early, or whatever they're called) tiny peas!!! We add tuna, or salmon, or cubed baked potatoes sometimes...great "stick to your ribs" kinda food - mmmmm...thanks for making me hungry as I'm getting ready to head up to bed!

Great recipe, Lana - this will be my 'creamed peas' next time I make them...Always thought I was weird, but I've always liked canned green peas WAY better...especially LeSueur! Thanks for sharing!

My grandma used to make a similiar dish but with baby potatoes added to the mix. I love your idea of pouring this over mashed potatoes. . . a definite must try =D

Boy does this bring back memories! Mom used to make this at least once a week, often on a Sunday evening. It was one of Dad's favorite meals, only he loved it served on Mom's homemade bread cut in thick slices and slathered with her homemade butter. She would also make it with corn which I preferred, but I think the peas were Dad's favorite so that is what we usually had. Thanks for the memory.

Sounds great; my mom has made this too with the baby red potatoes as Shandy posted. So good - a real comforting dish. I could eat this with potatoes all by itself as a meal. Yum!

I've never seen cans of creamed peas in the store. Do you think this recipe would work even without them? Like if I just made the white sauce and put in the cans of regular peas...?
Hmmmm... i'll have to experiment. This sounds really good and I'd like to try it. (just don;t have access to the cans of creamed peas)
Thanks for sharing! :)
Edited to add: OMG. I just realized that you didn't mean add in cans of "Lana's LeSuer Creamed Peas." You meant that as the name of the recipe! LOL. Just cuz it was under the "ingredients" list I got all confused... haha. Whoops.

LeSueur peas bring back memories because that is all my now 84 yr. old father would eat when we were growing up. That has put me more in the frozen pea camp since then, but this sounds like something my veggie loving grandkids would love. Thanks!

Hey Linda..this works fine with frozen (or fresh)
peas as well!! :)

Ah, this brings back memories. We love this stuff. I often add cubed ham and serve it over biscuits. It was a standard Sunday night supper with Mema and Nana. Yummy.
