I like to make this during the holidays, using cookie cutters to cut the bread into holiday shapes. My daughters loved this as a snack after school. Easy, quick, few ingredients - what more could you ask?

Mmmmm! Can you please send some pumpernickle and also some flavored seltzer to California? This is not merely the "land of fruits and nuts" but we are so deprived. Here in the Bay Area they OD on sourdough. Bring on that divine pumpernickle and go to town with this snack.

Good morning Krum, Its been a while since I have sent you a message this way. I gave you a 5 for this little snack. And I flagged it as interesting. I just love pumpernickle bread. I make a bread pudding with it, and I posted it in my recipes (Black Forest Bread Pudding, if you want to check it out). Have a wonderful day...Cheryl

Yikes, Mom, I think this after school snack lead to childhood obesity;) But it is darn good.
As an adult, it's a great salty snack. Most recently it was delicious after I had a few too many to drink the night before!!!
