Ingredients

How to make it

  • Finely shred potatoes, then drain by placing them in a colander and pressing out the liquid.
  • Pour potatoes into a med sized bowl.
  • Stir in flour, salt, and pepper.
  • Heat 1/4" oil in heavy pan., or use deep fryer set at 350F.
  • Form into "tots" and carefully drop into oil.
  • Fry until slightly golden.
  • Drain on paper towels.
  • Serve hot or freeze for later use in tater tot casserole.
  • *To reduce fat, bake in single layer on a baking sheet at 400F until tots are crisp and golden.

    I love homemade tater tots! I used a recipe from this site that is similar to this one except it had chives and cheddar cheese in it! Great stuff! Thanks Missdrea, for showing this in the "I Made It" group!

    so i finally got to make these. they are much better than parboiling. they turned out perfectly crispy. i froze these on a cookie sheet,threw them in a freezer bag, and baked them at 400. they were awesome w/ grilled hot dogs and homemade mac and cheese. i will make them again. thanks!

    i have made tater tots before but the recipe said to parboil the potatoes first. they got a tad mushy in the center. i will try your recipe soon
