Guaranteed cure for those annoying hiccups! Learned about this when I was a cocktail waitress way back when..... I always get the hiccups when I scarf down some watermelon or when I drink a bubbling soft drink.

Sounds Good! My husband has a successful one also; I had the hiccups for over 30 minutes, he had me stare into his eyes and dared me to do it again lol, & guess what? It works everytime!!

Hi Jett.
Back in college (way back) this girl taught me a sure-fire way to relieve hiccups:
With a glass of water in 1 hand, bend way down with your head almost upside down and take a few sips.I taught my daughter this trick and she has been doing it for years with complete success! The hardest part is trying not to spill down the front of you.

I will try this next time I get the hiccups, but, first ya gotta tell me where to get the angustora bitters :)? The only thing I've ever done for hiccups is grab a heaping tablespoon of peanut butter and eat it right out of the spoon -it's works but it's full of carbs & fat and your recipe isn't :)

I too was a bartender & this is the only cure that works!

It works because the hiccups are a brain-caused reflex. If you change your concentration pattern in the right area of the brain, even slightly---the hiccups go away. The concentrated staring, jolt from the lemon juice, someone scaring you, peanut butter heavy and thick on the tongue, etc.---all of those things cause changes in the brain.

(I think the lemon, bitters and sugar sounds GOOD!)

Hey Jett girl, my son gets them so bad...a week or two at a time. No kidding!! We tried almost everything(including peanut butter) except yours and nothing helped. Now he take medication, but I hate it because it makes him soooo sleepy. I am going to try your cure the next time and see what happens.

This does work The bartender that made it for me didn't use sugar, just lemon and bitters. The sugar addition is probably a little kinder.
