Good Morning Pat......Love pot pie and can't remember the last time I made one...I sometimes get into a rut and feel like I make the same thing over and over....On the list to make soon.

Les has been told he doesn't have to work until the water wagon is fixed so it's off to the Sports Bar in town to watch the game and supper...

    Happy Birthday, Donna!!!!!

Good Morning Everyone! Happy Birthday Donna! I believe you said yesterday that you were brining a Roast Chicken for this evening. Are you having anyone over to help you celebrate? Wishing you a really lovely day.
Pot Pie sounds Fantastic Pat. I've never tried to make that before. Enjoy your Football Game. Go Pats!
And Ditto for you Corinne. Your evening sounds like fun.
I have so much on my plate for today. Woke up to a skiff of snow on the ground. I have some tulip and daffodil bulbs to plant so must get them in the ground today before it freezes solid. Have some Lily bulbs to pull up and store in the basement too. Birdbaths to bring it, etc.etc.
For dinner this evening I am going to try:
    Easy Pad Thai
I've been trying different Pad Thai recipes but haven't found 'The One' yet. Also going to make my:
    Chicken Satays With Peanut Sauce
Would also like to carve a pumpkin. I saw a pic of one in a magazine I'd like to replicate. You take a 1" drill bit and drill holes all over it and then light it up. No face or anything but it looked kind of magical anyway.
Lori, did you get many kids at your house trick or treating last night?
Must go rustle up some breakfast. Thinking Poached Eggs on Toast with Fried Tomatoes on the side.

Its chicken roasting time today. I also have a boniato that I want to devised into a potato salad. Boniato's are white, sweet potatoes so that will make for a different potatoe salad but I have hard boiled eggs, sweet red pepper, celery I ought to be able to cobble something edible from that.

    Happy Halloween everyone!
I have never heard of a boniato but it sounds interesting. Does it taste and cook like a yam or more like a potato?
Potpie sound wonderful - I am a sucker for anything like that with crust or biscuits on top but my family aren't really into it. My favourite is steak and kidney pie but between the "kidney" part and the "pie" part I only get it when I go out - wouldn't dare try to make it here.
The ice and snow are still all over the place here, and more ice than ever with freezing rain on Friday night to put a glaze on everything. We went for lunch at a sushi restaurant yesterday and it was really nice - until we spent just about as long again getting the car unstuck from the snow and ice. Kind of a mood killer :). I doubt we will get too many trick or treaters here tonight. Laura is going to a town about 20 miles west to trick or treat with her friends from school. We'll drive her out about 4:30 and get her around 9:30 so I hope she has the sense to dress warmly (at 14 she is immune to listening to my advice)
Tonight I am going to try a recipe I saw for Mummified Pork Tenderloin - it is wrapped in phyllo and has a dijon mustard sauce. I will post it if it turns out.
    Have a great day everyone!

Gonna have to look at potato stuffing!

Your Mummified Pork Tenderloin sounds wonderful Michelle (and Halloweeny too!). Hope you post the recipe as it sounds excellent.

Happy Spooky Day to all. It's home made spaghetti sauce with Italian sausage for me today with Fluff Honey Bars made with marshmallow fluff, honey, flour, egg, sugar, vanilla and love from "The Marshmallow Fluff Cookbook", not kidding about the book. Weird combo for dinner but it's the South: home of sweet potatoes topped with marshmallows.

Just in the middle of making a pumpkin cake roll and thought I'd look in. We never had a name for the night before Halloween, it was no big deal but when I was in 10th grade our cable company switched from getting the Fargo, Bismark and Minot network feeds to getting Detroit feeds. It was 1979 and the very first day we had it was October 30th. The uproar here was incredible because our introduction to Detroit news was Devil's Night and at that time it was a huge thing. There were even petitions to go back to North Dakota stations! (now I feel old....)

My yard work is going well. Stopped to take a break for lunch and am about to head out again. Have pulled all the dead flowers from my planters and window box and pulled up some Canna Lily bulbs. Next is to plant some tulips and daffodils for next spring and to clear the interlock paths from the leaves. Have already hauled two big garbage can fulls to the back yard to dump in a wet spot. The sun came out for a bit which was nice. Hubby is cleaning the eavestroughs out and put fencing around our two new maple trees so the deer won't eat them this winter. My chicken broth has been simmering away on the stove all day so the house smells good. Kimmer....you never reported back how the Chicken Stock turned out in the Crock Pot!
Oh Michelle...a Pumpkin Cake Roll. Now that sounds yummy! Cream cheese icing too right? ummmmm....can taste it now.
Don't worry Laura. Just try post your recipe in a couple of hours or worst case tomorrow. It'll come back eventually.

    Good evening everyone! Happy Halloween!

    Happy birthday, Donna!!

I am exhausted! Our party was great and lasted into the morning hours.. last guests left @ 5AM. We finally got to sleep around 6AM, so I'm pretty out of it today but so worth it! The Vampire Cookies didn't exactly work out for me in terms of the "blood dripping" effect and they looked more like pig snouts (didn't get to snap a photo) but they were pretty tasty! Hah! I spent so much time & effort on that project and I could've made any yummy cookies & my guests would have been pleased. I wore a masquerade mask and vampire fangs with a lacy black dress & my beau was my "victim" with bite marks on his neck. Fun!

For dinner this evening (probably will be on the late side) we're having Lori's Im Talkin Quick N Easy Juicy Crispy N Tasty Ovenfried Chicken - the horseradish version and baked mac & cheese and possibly a salad if I can get it together.

    Pat, your dinner sounds yummy!

Wynne, sorry to hear about the events with Les's job and glad he is safe! sucks about the no work thing but hopefully you'll get to spend some QT together & enjoy.

Janet, sounds like you had quite the busy day!

Laura, your potato salad sounds interesting and looks good!

Michelle, your dinner sounds cool - looking forward to hearing how it turns out. I don't envy your weather. It's cool here but not ready for snow & ice yet..

Lori your BBQ always sounds so enticing -mmm! And I like that idea of lottery ODD extravaganza! can you image if we had a potluck?! :-)

Optimistic, it is good to hear from you.

Janet, I served chips & salsa (store bought) which is always a hit, spinach dip which I put in my Little Dipper mini crock pot - people loved it even though I thought I went too heavy on the garlic (I couldn't eat any as I was a vampire and that would have been it for me, haha), served various candies, port wine cheddar and crackers, and ham & cheese pastry puffs (also store bought) that were delicious. The cookies actually were a hit in terms of taste but didn't get the visual effect I wanted to. Gave me an idea though... I think I'm cooking obsessed!
